چکیده

Based on the hierarchy exhibited by quarks masses at low energies, we assume that Yukawa couplings of up and down quarks are related by Yu ∝ Y 2 d at grand unification scales. This ansatz gives rise to a symmetrical CKM matrix at the grand unification (GU) scale. Using three specific models as illustrative examples for the evolution down to low energies, we obtain the entries and asymmetries of the CKM matrix which are in very good agreement with their measured values. This indicates that the small asymmetry of the CKM matrix at low energies may be the effect of the renormalization group evolution only. PACS: 12.15.Ff, 12.15.Hh, 11.30.Hv

Towards a theory of quark masses, mixings and CP-violation

We discuss the structure of Yukawa couplings in D-brane models in which the SM fermion spectrum appears at the intersections of D-branes wrapping a compact space. In simple toroidal realistic examples one can explicitly compute the Yukawa couplings as a function of the geometrical data summing over world-sheet instanton contributions. A particular simple model with a N = 1 SUSY spectrum and thr...

Universality of strength for Yukawa couplings with extra down-type quark singlets

We investigate the quark masses and mixings by including vector-like down-type quark singlets in universality of strength for Yukawa couplings (USY). In contrast with the standard model with USY, the sufficient CP violation is obtained for the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix through the mixing between the ordinary quarks and quark singlets. The top-bottom mass hierarchy mt ≫ mb also appears na...

Properties of Fermion Mixings in Intersecting D - brane Models

We consider the Yukawa couplings for quarks and leptons in the context of Pati-Salam model using intersecting D-brane models where the Yukawa coupling matrices are rank one in a simple choice of family replication. The CKM mixings can be explained by perturbing the rank 1 matrix using higher order terms involving new Higgs fields available in the model. We show that the near bi-large neutrino m...

Scale dependence of quark mass matrices in models with flavor symmetries.

Numerical correlations between fermion masses and mixings could indicate the presence of a flavor symmetry at high energies. In general, the search for these correlations using low-energy data requires an estimate of leading-log radiative corrections. We present a complete analysis of the evolution between the electroweak and the grand unification scales of quark mass parameters in minimal supe...

Higgs Quark Couplings in Susy with Cp and Flavor Violations

In minimal supersymmetric model (SUSY) with a light Higgs sector, explicit CP violation and most general flavor mixings in the sfermion sector, integration of the superpartners out of the spectrum induces potentially large contributions to the Yukawa couplings of light quarks via those of the heavier ones. These corrections can be sizeable even for moderate values of tan β, and remain nonvanish...
